I’ve lived in Castle Rock for about a year and a half. I chose Castle Rock to open a boutique because of the demographics and how much the community is growing. And I fell in love with downtown. Before opening my own boutique I was in the corporate retail world. I was a regional vice president for a specialty women’s store — Dressbarn — and I was with them for almost 13 years. I traveled 14 states, had 110 locations. It was crazy. Now I have my boutique and I also have a retail consulting business.
From part consignment to full boutique
We stopped taking consignments in January and we are now a full-line boutique. So here we are! And we are specializing in just bringing great fashion at reasonable prices. A lot of times when women think of boutique they think of very expensive. That’s not our mission. We really want to help women fall back in love with themselves. So we really focus on styling them, we focus on helping them look their best, feel their best and not breaking their wallet.
Moving from corporate to small business
It’s way different in that when you’re with corporate you have different departments that do everything. You have a buying department, you have a planning department, you have an operations department, you have someone to pay your sales taxes. When you’re here, at your own boutique, you do everything. But it’s very rewarding because we see the growth in our store and we have so many customers who love us.
Outside of work
I love to travel, love the beach and the ocean.
I love to hike. I love to be outside. I love to climb mountains. I love to be with my dog, my granddaughter, my daughter and my son-in-law. They live up in Fort Collins.
