Honoring victims of crime

Event recognized 25th anniversary of the Colorado Victims Rights Act

Law enforcement, prosecutors, victims rights advocates and crime victims gathered at the Douglas County Justice Center on April 6 to honor those affected by crime and the people who support them.

The event's theme — “Strength, Resilience, Justice” — was highlighted through speeches given by 18th Judicial District Attorney George Brauchler, Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock and Colorado State Trooper Lt. Col. Matt Packard.

The program also honored the 25th anniversary of the Colorado Victims Rights Act, which strives to keep victims more informed and involved in the criminal justice process. And it recognized the Colorado State Patrol for outstanding service to victims.
