Douglas County will host a convalescent plasma blood drive at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital in order to help patients fighting COVID-19.

The event will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 4.

People who have fully recovered from COVID-19 can donate their plasma, which is a blood component that contains antibodies that “may give patients an extra boost to fight their illness,” according to Vitalant, the host for the event.

In order to be eligible, donors have to have had COVID-19 symptoms plus a positive test for the virus. The donor also has to have been without symptoms for at least 28 days.

Appointments for the drive are available at donors.vitalant.org using blood drive code A531 or by calling 303-363-2300.
