Thankful for kindness

In a time of so much uncertainty, where all we hear is the negative side of what is going on in the world, it is important to highlight positivity and true acts of kindness. Over the last month, our grandfather has been battling the COVID-19 virus. On April 19, he unfortunately passed away due to complications from this horrible virus.

During this difficult time, it was an absolute blessing to see the way the health care workers and police officers took care of and honored our grandfather in his last days and even hours. In times like these, where everyone is worried about their own health and the health of their family, it would be very easy to do the bare minimum when working in uncertain conditions. However, the health care workers at the Highlands Ranch hospital went above and beyond their duties. They held his hand and comforted him in his last days and sat by his bedside to talk to him. Additionally, sheriff’s deputies took time to come down to the hospital to perform a funeral procession in honor of his dedicated service with the New York Police Department.

It is everyday heroes like these that really show the true definition of humanity. We will never be able to thank you enough for what you have done for our family as we mourn our grandfather, but we want you to know that it will never be forgotten. Thank you for treating him with the respect and care that we all hope for and thank you for honoring his service. I know he is smiling down and grateful for your many acts of kindness.
