MY NAME IS:Rep. Shannon Bird
I AM A CANDIDATE FOR:Colorado House District 29
MY PARTY AFFILIATION:Democrat
I AM:The incumbent
I SERVE/WILL SERVE:Adams County, Jefferson County
I AM RUNNING FOR THIS OFFICE BECAUSE:I am the current Colorado State House Representative for House District 35 running for re-election in the new House District 29. I plan to continue to work on smart housing policy that encourages the construction of more homes that people can afford to buy or rent, making Colorado a great place in which to do business and prioritizing and improving public education.I grew up in Nevada and came to Colorado to study economics at CU Boulder. After graduation, I attended CU Denver and earned a master's degree in finance and an MBA, and then law school at the University of Denver. I served on the Westminster City Council for three years and have become known at the state capitol for my work on supporting small businesses, affordable housing, public safety, retirement and pension programs (PERA), and K-12 education.Over the last four years, I have worked to increase investment in our public schools, collaborated with law enforcement to solve our greatest public safety challenges and protected women's rights to choose. Colorado has significant challenges that will only be resolved by people who prioritize problem-solving over partisan politics. This is the ethic and leadership style that I will continue to bring to Colorado's Capitol because the people of our State deserve results over politics.
