A television production company expected to bring approximately 100 jobs to town has officially relocated to Castle Rock.
Dorsey Pictures, a Red Arrow Studios company, moved from its previous location in south Jefferson County to 4700 Castleton Way in Castle Rock during April. Dorsey was founded by Chris and Amy Dorsey 21 years ago and is an Emmy-award-winning company. Dorsey also operates offices in California.
“Castle Rock’s easy access to Denver International Airport, high-speed communications systems, world-class amenities and fantastic quality of life made the choice to come here very easy,” President and CEO Chris Dorsey said in a statement.
One of Dorsey Pictures’ newest projects will focus in part on the story of Beth Chapman, her work in bounty hunting, and also chronicle aspects of her battle with cancer.
Chapman died on June 26 at age 51 following a two-year battle with the illness, the Associated Press reported.
The forthcoming documentary, “Dog’s Most Wanted,” will release to WGN America on Sept. 4, and highlights the bounty hunting adventures of Duane “Dog” Chapman, Beth Chapman, and their team. The Chapmans rose to fame with their former reality television show, “Dog the Bounty Hunter.”
Dorsey Pictures has also partnered with Discovery, HGTV, National Geographic and the History Channel, among others, on shows like “Building Alaska” and “Building off the Grid.”
The company received an economic assistance agreement from the Town of Castle Rock in February to help the company move. At the time, the company expected to bring 98 full-time employees to work in Castle Rock and hire an additional 10 to 15 in the next two years.
Marcus Notheisen, the vice president of the Castle Rock Economic Development Council, said in a statement the EDC was excited to see Dorsey relocate to town.
“High-growth, technology-oriented companies, such as Dorsey, represent a significant opportunity to Castle Rock, providing our highly educated and dynamic workforce with additional employment opportunities in the exciting field of television production with one of the best in the industry,” he said.
